Jones, Thomas vs Joshua Bond

Description: A promissory note signed by Joshua Bond is filed. Joshua Bond promised to pay Mr. Thomas Jones on order of 3 months after the date $128.86 with interest from the date for value received. The note was witnessed on June 28, 1813 by F. Graeter. The Sheriff of Knox County is commanded to take Joshua Bond if he can be found in your bailiwick into custody. He is to come before the judges of the Circuit Court the first Monday in March next to answer unto Thomas Jones on a plea of debt. Thomas Jones states that Joshua Bond owes him $128.86 which he has detained from him. The summons is dated February 27, 1815 and witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk. A notation on the back of the summons states the bail is required for the sum of $128.86. The summons is executed by B. V. Beckes with William P. Beckes filing a required special bail. Sheriff B. V. Beckes states the the cost to serve and return is $.59 for bond and $.75 cost for a total due of $1.34. A memorandum is filed on the third day of March 1815. William P. Beckes came personally before James Jordan deputy and undertook for Joshua Bond, on the suit of Thomas Jones, an action of debt in the amount of $128.86 which was pending in the Circuit Court of Knox County. Joshua Bond is to appear on Monday the fifth instant to answer unto the suit and to satisfy the court or render his body to prison. If Bond does not appear then William P. Beckes will do it for him. The writ was witnessed by B. V. Beckes and signed by William P. Beckes. A complaint was filed during the March 1815 term. Thomas Jones complains of Joshua Bond for a debt of $128.86 owed since June 28, 1813 with lawful interest owed from that date. Repayment date was set for September 29, 1813 but he has not paid so damages of $100 are added to the debt sought. The complaint is signed by General Washington Johnston.
