Jones, Peter vs. George and Jacob Minor

Description: The file contains two documents related to the suit Peter Jones brought against George and Jacob Miner for a failure to pay a debt in 1810. On January 15, 1810 R [Robert] Buntin, Clerk issued a Summons for George Miner and Jacob Miner to appear in court on the third Monday of March, 1810. They were to answer unto Peter Jones plea they render unto him the sum of two hundred dollars owed to him, and one hundred dollars in damages. John McCandless, D. Sheriff executed the Summons on William Miner. Bail was required. $1.45 court fees were attached to the Summons. March 2, 1810, Jacob and William Minor were bound unto Parmenas Beckes, Sheriff in the sum of $100 to ensure they would appear before the Court of Common Pleas on the third Monday of March 1810. They were to answer unto Peter Jones on a plea of debt and damages of $200. This document was witnessed by John McCandless and signed by Jacob Miner and William Miner. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas 1807-1810, page 232, the Plaintiff appeared and dismissed this cause. Where upon Jacob Miner appeared and confessed Judgment for the costs. It was ordered that the Plaintiff do recover against the Defendants his court costs and charges in this suit.
