Description: |
Elisabeth Catherine Gooley (or Cooley) Bryant was born in 1838 in Indiana and married Sylvester Bryant on June 5, 1864. Sylvester Bryant was a member of Company F of the 150th Indiana Infantry Regiment and he served from February 17, 1865 until August 5, 1865. In this letter Elisabeth talks about how she misses her husband and about financial matters. While she is willing to handle the money while her husband is away, she says she will quickly turn over that duty when he returns. She is also trying to balance building up their savings with maintaining various barnyard animals including horses, sheep and at least one pig. She does mention going out around town but says that she has not done so very frequently since Sylvester went off to war. |
