Description: |
Elisabeth Catherine Gooley (or Cooley) Bryant was born in 1838 in Indiana and married Sylvester Bryant on June 5, 1864. Sylvester Bryant was a member of Company F of the 150th Indiana Infantry Regiment and he served from February 17, 1865 until August 5, 1865. In this letter Elisabeth talks life on the home front, especially the animals (one of the pregnant mares gave birth to a colt and the other mare is due to give birth soon) and the family that is around her. She gives a brief update on everybody and mentions what she has been doing. The letter is a little hard to read because there are a number of holes/tears in the paper and a lot of the words are missing. |
