Elisabeth Catherine Gooley (or Cooley) Bryant was born in 1838 in Indiana and married Sylvester Bryant on June 5, 1864. Sylvester Bryant was a member of Company F of the 150th Indiana Infantry Regiment and he served from February 17, 1865 until August 5, 1865. In this letter Elisabeth talks about financial matters, including drawing pay from the trustee of the township and the various expenses that she must pay for, including caring for a variety of barn animals, including two pregnant horses. She also writes briefly about home life and mentions that her husband is stationed at Harpers Ferry. |
