The file contains the suit the State Bank of Indiana brought against the administrator of Charles Delisles Estate for insufficient funds on a promissory note. The documents include the original promissory note and the banks notice of insufficient funds. September 17, 1838, Charles Delisle signed with his mark a promissory note to William Mieure. It was for one hundred dollars and was to be paid one hundred and twenty days after date on funds from the Vincennes Branch of the Indiana State Bank. The note was witnessed by George W. Rathbone. When the note was presented on January 18, 1839, by William Mieure, to cashier, Jonathan Ross, there were insufficient funds of the drawer. George W. Rathbone, notary public recorded the lack of funds and filed a protest document. |
