Knox County court record for State of Indiana vs Francis Purcy Sr, and Frank Purcy, Jr., 1850

Description: Samuel Collins come to court as duly sworn and makes a deposition that on the twenty seventh day of February, 1850, some person or persons feloniously carried away the following goods and chattels of his property: five split bottom chairs, valued at two dollars and twenty five cents, one stew kettle with lid worth sixty five cents, one summer coat worth two dollars and one bed comfort worth sixty cents. He states he feels that James Smith is guilty of said offense and that the goods are hidden in said dwelling house of James Ewing. This deposition was filed March 14, 1850 by R. G. McClure, J.P. A search warrant was issued On March 14, 1850 for property of Samuel Collins, the property was found in the possession of Francis Purcy, Sr. and Frank Purcy, Jr. They are indicted and both the Purcys come to court and state the property belongs to them. The court orders a recognize bond be paid by Francis Purcy, Samuel Emison and he are to pay fifty dollars bond. The jury finds for the defendants as not guilty. John Barekman was foreman of the jury.
