Knox County court record for McNamee vs. Judah, 1829

Description: Folder 4084 in Box 74 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House contains only one document related to Black History in the case of McNamee vs. Judah. This case was a debt litigation wherein Dr. McNamee filed suit against Samuel Judah to recover money owed him for medical services he provided to Judah’s family and others living in Judah’s home. The only document in this folder relevant to black history is the statement from McNamee to Judah that lists services rendered to people of color, i.e. page 1, March 29, 1829 “Black child,” page 2, September 5, 1829 “negro man,” page 3, September 27, 1830 “b girl” October 1, 1830 “visit to b girl,” November 4, 1830 “2 doses negro sun pills, page 4, July 8 and 18, 1831 “for boy.” Other visits to Judah’s own children are listed as “child, wife and child, and “children”.
