Knox County court record for State of Indiana vs. Charles Posey, 1834

Description: Folder 4134 in Box 75 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House contains three documents in the case of State of Indiana vs. Charles Vulcan (aka. Posey.) The indictment states that Vulcan did (with force of arms) take a barrel of salt valued at $4.72 from Wheeler. The folder also includes a bond signed by Vulcan/Posey and John Myers, as well as a verdict finding Vulcan/Posey guilty of Grand Larceny. He was fined six dollars and sentenced to two years of hard labor in the state prison. In addition, “he shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit during life.”
