Knox County court record for State of Indiana vs. Betsy, 1829

Description: Folder 3753 in Box 68 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House contains one document in the case of State of Indiana vs. Betsy, a girl of color and apprentice of Thomas and Caroline Bishop. On October 20, 1829 Thomas Bishop appeared before Justice of the Peace Martin Robinson and reported that Betsy had left her apprenticeship without his permission. The single document in the folder is the transcript of the court hearing of Bishop’s complaint.
