Knox County court record for State of Indiana vs. Millie Hill, 1829

Description: Folder 3693 in Box 67 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House contains one document in the case of State of Indiana vs. Millie Hill. Hill, a woman of color was charged with larceny and her husband Frank paid the recognizance bond on March 25, 1829. Hill was ordered to personally appear on the first day of the next circuit court term to answer the charges against her. The recognizance payment is the only document in the folder. On the back of the document is a note to the clerk to issue a subpoena for John Basetton (Basadon) and Louise Redmon, both “of color.” That document was filed on March 27, 1829.
