This case was one of larceny against Smith, a man of color who was accused of stealing two pair of hind wagon gears worth $25.00, one link of tongue chains worth $2.00, one pair of spreaders worth $5.00, and one pair of double trees, worth $5.00 from the property of Nathaniel Ewing. Documents in the folder are the indictment for larceny and warrant for his arrest. On the back of the arrest warrant is a statement from John Decker that Smith was not found. |
