On Oct. 6, 1806 Thompson Harris comes before Isaac White, Deputy Clerk of the Knox County Clerk of Common Pleas and brings a Negro woman named Nan age 25. She is a slave belonging to Harris. She was brought here from the state of Tennessee. Harris is to provide Nan with proper lodging, clothing and washing provisions. At the end of her thirty-eight years of service Nan is not to become a county charge. |
