On Nov. 28, 1805 Mathias Rose comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas with a Negro woman named Milly age 15 and 6 months. She has been brought to this territory from Kentucky. Milly is to serve Mathias Rose and his assignees for a term of seventy years. Mathias is to provide Milly with proper clothing, food and shelter according to her degree and station, and she is not to become a county charge at the end of her service. |
