On Dec. 28, 1806 Philip Tramell came before Isaac White, Deputy Clerk of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas with a Negro woman named Tuner, age 17. She was brought here as a slave from Tennessee after being purchased from Lazarus Powel by Philip Tramell. Tuner is to serve Philip Tramell and his assignees for a term of forty years. Philip Tramell is to sufficiently provide lodging, food and clothing to Tuner and at the end of her term she is not to become a cost to the county. |
