Knox County marriage licenses No. 2, 1820-1825

Description: 8.25 x 13.5 (approx.) book with blue paper/board cover and brown tape in the spine. All corners show wear. Lower right corner is missing. On the front cover “No2-, Marriage Licenses From 1820 to 1825.” This appears to be in ink with some running. There are various stains and discolorations on the cover. “1820 to 1825” is written again beneath in a lighter hand. The spine is taped.There is no index in this book.Beginning on the first page are marriage licenses arranged vertically with four to a page. There are 74 such pages with repairs on the first two leaves using a red adhesive others using tape. Notes on the sides of some licenses testify as to the age of the bride or consent from bride’s father. The bottommost license on the leaf for pages 73/74 appears to have been removed.Stains, discoloration and deterioration are evident throughout the book whose back cover is of the same material as the front cover. On the back cover is handwritten “Johnson.”
