Such costumesas I never thought were possiblewere assembled for the occasion.About 60 children werehaving a swell time in our big gymand they certainly made shortwork of the cider and doughnuts. After the games we all ducked forapples and some had their Saturdaybath prematurely. A group pictureof boys and girls in costumewas taken outside, so that we cankeep the record for posterity. Pri:t.eswere given to Mary Louise Penn,Betty Titus, Tarilyn haw andKatherine Kuzmich; also MarshallBroadbeck, George Swartz, GeneFodge and Herbie VanDerbeck. They were awarded a 25c War SavingsStamp for their efforts. Bob Bogue, Jack Hannaand Hunk Yuhasz helped megather about 2 tons of iron, bras~ ,copper and rubber. With scrap at$15.00 a ton, we can figure we donated$30.00 to the Red ross.I looks as though we have fourmore boys in the servic.e: JackHanna, who joined the Marine ;Hunk Yuhasz and Hans Riepl, inthe rmy and Jimmie Shaw who ishelping the Navy at Great Lakes. With the opening of basketballseason soon, the Turner team hasstarted to practice. ~ e have about15 prospects now, but Uncle Sammay claim them before then. Everyone of the members of the casto·ave excellent performances- theyreally make you feel their partwas written just for them. Congratulationsto all and especiallyto Ifolen C.
