Interview with Rev. Walter Franklin Lahr

Description: Rev. Franklin Lahr, his wife, and his small son had to leave their home but, they did not leave Jeffersonville, Indiana, during the 1937 Ohio River Valley Flood. He is very specific in describing the preparation of the buildings for the 1937 flood. Pastor of St. Lukes E & R (now UCC) , he worked closely with the local disaster response leaders. He served as narrator for the C. T. Hertzsch film and road in the boat as the flood waters inundated Jeffersonville, Indianas streets. The thumbnail image was loaned from the archives of St. Lukes United Church of Christ and shows the young pastor with his wife, Ruth Zenk Lahr, and their son in 1941.
