Lahr Silent Home Movie of 1937 Flood at Jeffersonville

Description: Rev. Franklin Lahr and his family vacated their home during the 1937 Great Ohio River Flood, but they remained in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Rev. Lahr recorded this home movie of various scenes from the Flood and subsequent recovery of Jeffersonville, Indiana. His wife, Ruth Zenk Lahr appears several times, modeling heavy boots and inspecting the damage to a homes front door. Other scenes depict St. Lukes E & R Church, where Lahr served as pastor; ruined buildings, streets, and vehicles around Jeffersonville, Indiana; and citizens sorting through clothes offered by the Red Cross.
