Description: |
Miss Frances Beard spent her adult life teaching at Port Fulton School. In her earliest years, the school served as a Refugee Center for those who had fled their homes down in Jeffersonville, Indiana for the heights of the community east of downtown. Miss Beard was one of those refugees as her home was on Court Avenue. She lived with her cousins, the Elliotts, and helped at the Refugee Center located at Port Fulton School.
