Description: |
On August 8, 1972, the Concord Mall opened to the public. At the opening ceremonies, Elkhart City and County leaders along with mall officials spoke briefly. Concord High School Marching Minutemen led a parade that morning. The Mall was a bit of a novelty as an enclosed shopping area. An eleven day festival was planned to celebrate the opening. Shopping sprees and door prizes were given away. Area dignitaries made appearances and citizens were treated to 35 new stores from the area as well as out-of-town businesses. |
