Description: |
The first photo of this pair was taken between 1915 and 1921, as determined by the presence of the C. L. George dental office on the second floor of the building on the far right. The St. Joseph Valley Railway, an interurban, had a depot in the same building directly beneath the George dental office. The new post office, finished in 1905, is seen at the left with the Century Club building next to it. As seen in the second photo, only two of the earlier buildings still stand today – the post office, now a bank, and one of the smaller buildings, which hosts the Time Was museum of Elkhart history on its second floor. |
