Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: C Shift calling in to ask about the A Shift being called in to all stations; Male caller reporting an accident at Raymond and East Street; Female caller requesting a direct number, number given 636-3650. Bob Sherman calling asking for the best way to get to the Colosseum from Near Garfield Park at Madison and Southern, directed to come north towards Fountain Square and Keystone, told to avoid going to College; Task Force 15 called, Slew Marsh? and Brian Short?; Male caller asking if the trucks were at 30th and Kenwood, because there is a report of windows being out; Male caller from Perry? asking about how bad it is up there, advised that there is a Code 4 in effect, caller asked if it would be worth their while to …; transferred to the Chief; Joe Hammel reporting Task Force 11 is on station; The Garage called requesting someone to come to Station 2 and lock it up, reported no one was on site and the police were closing down everything in that area; Male caller asking about training happening with 5 Engine, asking about what was taken with them; Jerry Larris? with Indiana Bell called about being assigned with the Fire Department to meet at the southwest corner of Alabama and New York in the parking lot and told to check in with police upon arrival; Dispatcher identified as Shannon? Received a call form Herb? Asking if Palmer was still there; Male caller, a cab driver, reporting a robbery, put through to the Police dispatch at Blake and Wabash; Slew Marsh calling about reporting himself, Brian Short? And Lamb? Being in; Male and Female callers reporting a fire at 1808 N. College in the M&J Restaurant; Tate? from the 9s called about the Code 4 still being on, and he is with the B Shift, told that the Bs get to rest; Female, the wife of one of the firemen, asking if the 3s were on a run; Fire reported at Dorman and Michigan, the B&G Machine company, a truck fire inside the building; Male caller requesting that Engine 8 be told to turn their running lights on, they had no lights on; Female, and three male callers reporting 50 and 27th a super market store on fire at Clifton and 27, police on the scene; Gabe? From the ? office asking if the station was supposed to be open, and no the 2s? were at the fairgrounds; Sheldon from Truck 7 calling asking where the 7s were; Male caller reporting a car fire at 706 Blake? Bernie Pal? At Station 14, calling back from a missed call, had to shimmy up the pole to get into the station, reported a few windows being knocked out; Roy Howard calling for Bill Brown, requesting a ride into work;
