Description: |
Meteer writes that some of the colored troops are being taught to read and write by a doctors wife. They are camped near a railroad station and attract large crowds when the soldiers parade. There are twenty locomotives in the depot at the time of his letter. He compliments the work of the Christian and Sanitary Commissions. He notes that the railroad bridge over the Chattahoochee River was built in four days. |
