Letter from James H. Meteer to Caleb Mills, April 18, 1864

Description: Lt. Col. Corbin led them on a raid through Cumberland Mountains. They had expected to meet the rebels in Col. Hughes unit who were known for bushwhacking. Meteer shares stories he is hearing from former slaves. He writes that he really knew nothing of slavery before this raid.
