Description: |
John W. Doolittle and some members of his work crew pose for a photograph on a rocky hillside during the construction of Doolittle Hill Road. Doolittle is the bearded man at right standing in the front with his hat in his hand. Two men in the photo have been identified as his son, George Carl Doolittle - the man sitting at top right on the rock ledge wearing a large hat, and the young man standing just beneath him in dark trousers, and light shirt with suspenders. The younger Doolittle would have been around 22 years old at the time. He later went on to serve several terms as Harrison County Surveyor. |
