Description: A statement by J. B. Drennin, Justice of the Peace of Knox County is filed. He states that the following document is a true transcript of all proceedings in the suit that was on his docket where in Elliott Wilson, plaintiff and Moses Rallings is defendant. This document was given under hand July 21, 1814. A transcript was received at the Clerks office the first Monday November 7, 1814. The transcript contained a summons for Moses Rollings to answer to Elliott Wilson on a plea of trespass plus $40 damages. The transcript is presented June 13, 1814 and contained a copy of subpoenas to any constable living in the area, a copy of a subpoena for Aquilla Ramsey, a copy of a summons for Moses Bedell to appear at the Justice of the Peace office 18 days instant to give evidence on a suit depending where in Elliott Wilson is plaintiff and Moses Rollings is defendant and make due return under hand and seal 13 June 1814. The document is signed by J. B. Drennin, Justice of the Peace for Knox County. John McBain, Constable executed and returned the subpoena on June 18, 1814, the bill shows 23 miles have been traveled. A subpoena for Nancy Rollings and John Coustright is filed June 26, 1814. They are to appear before J. B. Drennin at his office July 2, next. They are to give evidence in a law suit. John McBain, Constable executes the subpoena and list mileage as 3 miles for return on July 2, 1814. A bill for boarding, and nursing for 80 days and burial of Asail Rollins, deceased is presented. The charges are for $25 burial of Asail, washing and boarding $6, on an account paid by Aquilla Ramsey $5 for a total of $36 owed to Elliott Wilson. A summons is issued June 13, 1814 and a subpoena is issued for Aquila Ramsey and Moses Bedell is filed and returned June 18, 1814. After summons and subpoenas are issued all lawfully returned parties appear and trial is recessed until July 2nd. A subpoena for Nancy Rollings and John Coustright was issued June 2, 1814. The parities entered into a trial and recessed to jury. The testimony of Aquilla Ramsey who swore on the holy evangelist of god before J. B. Drennin, Justice of the Peace is entered. Ramsey answers the questions asked where he stated he would see that his fathers debts were paid. He as also asked if Rollings asked if he owed money. He responded that yes he did owe some money of $5.50 but that Elliot Wilson paid me. Ramsey is asked if he knew that Mr. Rollings lay sick at his house until he died. Mr. Ramsey responded that he did know. A summons is issued to the Constable to bring Etheldred Bass, Joseph Wendle, John Harbin, John Cummings,William Shook, and Levi Landers before the Justice of the Peace J. B. Drennin. They are to serve as jurors on the trial. The writ is executed and returned July 2, 1814 by John McBain Constable. A copy of the account that Moses Rollings has against Elliot Wilson is filed January 1814. Items on the account are for 1 saddle $10, house room and boarding $8. A bill dated January 1807 is presented for boarding the wife and child of Asail Rollings in the amount of $40. The account was witnessed by J. B. Drennin, Justice of the Peace for Knox County. An account for Moses Rollings who owed to Elliott Wilson $31 for nursing, boarding and burial of Asail Rollings, deceased is filed. A receipt of an account that was paid by A. Ramsey for Asail Rollings in the amount of $5.50 for a total owed being $36.50 is filed. A subpoena for Nancy Rawlings (Rollings) to come to court the 1st Monday of March on behalf of Moses Rawlins is filed. A $100 penalty will be applied for nonappearance. The subpoena is filed February 29, 1816 by R. Buntin, Clerk and executed by B. V. Beckes, Sheriff. Service and miles return being $1.06 1/2. A summons for Nancy Rawlins to come to court the 4th Monday of May instant is filed May 11, 1816. She is to give evidence on behalf of Moses Rawlins defendant. A $100 fined will be applied for nonappearance. R. Buntin, Clerk served as witness with B. V. Beckes executing the writ on June 4th. The cost for service and return with 13 miles is $1.24 1/2.
