Samuel Emison and John Holland, admin. of Christian Graeter, deceased vs William Scott 1832

Description: The file contains the documents regarding the suit the Estate of Christian Graeter brought against William Scott in 1833. Included is the court transcript, Scotts answer to the suit, a summons, an account sheet, and a promissory note of William Scott to Christian Graeter. In a court transcript signed by G.W. Johnston, Justice of the Peace, the suit the admininistrators of Christian Graeters Estate brought against William Scott, was moved to the Knox County Probate Court on 2-12-33. Attorney, R. Carnan wrote William Scotts reponse to the suit. It stated that the suit should not have been brought against him because of payment of off-set. An account sheet of Christian Graeter with William Scott running from 1820 to 1825 included some of the following items: 6 plates [pallets] hewed timber 23 feet long $6.21, 3 1/2 bushels Indian meal $1.75, 2 pieces hewed timber @ ft by 8 ft by 10 ft. $3.24, cash $10.00 for a total of Debits $49.57 1/2. A fourth document, was a summons for Europe Graeter, William Thorn, William Andrews, and Abraham Rhodarnell to appear in Probate Court on 2-16-1832 and issued by Samuel Smith, Clerk. The last document was a promissory note written by William Smith to Christian Graeter on 12-30-1819. It was for $46.15 1/2. On the back of the note was the following: received hewed timber $13.25 November 28, 1825 Cash $10.00.
