Eliza Barkman, widow of Abraham Barkman Jr., petitions for her dower rights and shows publication of the suit on November 17, 1842. The heirs of Abraham Barkman Jr. are Henry Barkman, Robert Barkman and Ellen Barkman, deceased. The publication of the suit was placed for 3 weeks from October 14, 1842 to the 30th. R. Y. Cadddington swears an oath that the advertisement was published successively in the Vincennes Gazette on November 8, 1842 before Jonathan Collins, Justice of the Peace. The court appoints Abraham Smith, Seneca Almy and Robert Buntin as Commissioners to lay off the dower rights on November 17, 1842. Smith, Almy and Buntin take the oath to faithfully and impartially divide land on November 19, 1842. The Commissioners report on division of property for dower rights of Eliza Barkman is filed on November 19, 1842. |
