Description: Photo of Joe Louis in Bicknell, Indiana in 1947. While training in French Lick, Indiana for the bout with Joe Walcott he did exhibition matches in the area to raise money. The photo is of him and a Bicknell tavern owner named Henry Bastide whose father was from France. Newspaper (Vincennes Sun-Commercial) promotions and articles surrounding the October 25, 1947 event at the Bicknell Gymnasium show tickets costing $2.60 for bleacher seats and $3.40 for ringside seats. The heavyweight champ went four rounds with Sid Peek of Charlestown, Indiana.
