Description: Folder 8645 in Box 170 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House contains four documents in another case of State of Indiana vs. William Booker. This case is tied to the case in folder 8644. In this case the court files another indictment against Booker for creating a nuisance, stating he kept a house where people congregated to drink and have other disorderly conduct (“tippling and whoring”) creating a nuisance to the community. Documents include another arrest warrant, another summons for witnesses for the state, an indictment, and another bond for two hundred dollars signed by Booker and Elijah Cox. While Booker, a Black male, was the only charged, the seven white witnesses, most from near Busseron, Indiana were James Willis, John Willis, Archibald O’Haver (O’Havre), Francis Neal, James Deal, James Fry and William Fuller.
