Description: Folder 5592 in Box 104 of Knox County Circuit Court Records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House holds eight documents in the case of Yorick (Yorich) McGilpin vs. Ceasar (Cesar) Embry. To satisfy and unpaid promissory note of $120, a court order calls for the sale of the land on which Embry lived, what was then an area known as Cherry Grove. Among the documents are the promissory note, court orders, and newspaper notices of the sale.
