On February 14, 1807 Robert Elliot comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas with a Negro woman named Betty age 20. She was brought to this territory from South Carolina. Betty is to serve Robert Elliott and his assignees for a term of twenty years. Robert Elliott is to provide Betty with sufficient provisions, clothing, lodging and washing according to his station and degree and Betty is not to become a cost to the county. |
