On May 2, 1806, John Hadden, comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Clerk of Common Pleas and brings a Negro boy named James, age 16. He is a slave belonging to John Hadden and was brought here from the state of Kentucky. John Hadden is to provide James with proper lodging, clothing and washing provisions. At the end of his thirty-six years James is not to become a county charge. |
