On Sept. 23, 1806 James Ford comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Clerk of Common Pleas and brings a Negro woman named Dinah age 17. She is a slave belonging to James Ford and was brought here from the state of Kentucky. James is to provide Dinah with proper lodging, clothing and washing provisions. At the end of thirty years of service to James and his assignees she is not to become a county charge. |
