On February 21, 1806 Joseph Hollingsworth comes before Robert Buntin, Clerk of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas and brings a Nego man named Jeffery age 30. Jeffery has been brought into this territory from the state of South Carolina. Jeffery is to serve Joseph and his assignees for a term of twenty years. Joseph is to provide Jeffery with sufficient clothing, washing and lodging according to his station and degree. At the end of his term of service Jeffery is not to become a county charge. |
