46THE NORMAL ADVANCEftoctetpALPHA.ON the evening of Saturday, October 25,
the Alpha pledges gave a beautifully ap¬
pointed dinner at the Herz tea room. They
had as their guests the members of the active
chapter and Miss Dorothy Bowser of Indian¬
apolis, Ind., and Miss Ann Price of Brazil.
Immediately following the dinner, initiation
was held at the home of Effie and Edith Miller,
1629 South Center street.Saturday, November 1st, the members of the
active chapter gave a masque Halloween party
at the home of Ruth Schloss, 608 South Fifth
street. The entire basement was adorned with
autumn leaves, cornstalks and lighted pump¬
kins. At ten oclock the guests unmasqued and
the remainder of the evening was spent in for¬
tune-telling and dancing, after which a de¬
licious luncheon was served.AT II LET A.Considering the few members in school at
the opening of the fall term, the Athletas have
made a splendid showing. At a business meet¬
ing, Miss Esther Ray was elected leader, with
Miss Sarah Daniels as treasurer. A number
of informal affairs are being planned by the
members of the section, to be given at intervals
during the winter.On Saturday evening, November 1st, Miss
Esther Price entertained the members of the
section, at her home on North Tenth street,
with a Halloween party. The house was ar¬
tistically decorated with autumn leaves and
pumpkins. Music and dancing were features
of the evenings entertainment. Refreshments,
consisting of pumpkin pie, doughnuts, cider
and coffee, were served.The guests present were the Misses Esther
Ray, Sarah Daniels, Esther Price, Lena Fail¬
ing, Sadie Drake, Janet Skeene, Marie Rucker,
Jessie Andrews, Helen Price, Alberta Har-
stine, Mary Clifford, Marjorie Sobiston, Rilla
Stalling, Agnes Kuykendall, Lucille Haver,
Snow Herring, Ethel OHaver, Lucile Gay
and Elizabeth Kadel.EPSILON DELTA.The Epsilon Deltas were entertained Octo¬
ber 24 by Margaret Jones and Helen Crosser.
The evening was spent in music and later re¬
freshments were served. Those present were:
Hazel Shaper, Edna Taggart, Stella Ellison,
Dorothy Moran, Hazel Easten, Mabel Kelley,
May Wells, Cordelia Kieler, Leota Roberts,
Odessa Gadbury, Mildred Mason and Blanche
Taylor.Miss Erma Georg has accepted a position
teaching near Clinton. Hazel Easten was
elected leader to take Miss Georgs place.We regret the misfortune of one of our mem¬
bers, Miss Hallie Farmer, who was operated
on at St. Anthonys Hospital for appendicitis.
She will not be able to be with us the rest of
the term.GAMMA GAMMA.The members of the Gamma Gamma section
will hold a business meeting, November 7th, at
the home of Mr. Joseph R. Moore. Miss Ruth
Boyer will be assisting hostess.The Alumnae Association has organized for
the year, having elected the following officers:
President, Miss Ruby Fuhr vice-president, Miss Eleanor Cunningham secretary, Miss Eleanor Boner treasurer, Miss Letha McPhil- lips. The Alumme will entertain the active |
