People in the Campus Club (C-Club)

Description: Most of the tables and chairs in the Campus Club (C-Club) are occupied and people appear to be eating, socializing, and playing cards. Located on the lower level of Atherton Union, the C-Club sold meals and snacks and offered students a place to gather and hold events. The 1951 Drift, the Universitys yearbook, includes impressions of the new C-Club. For just plain relaxing from the frustration of classes, the C-Club is ideal. The cup of coffee to revive a student after an eight oclock, a hand of bridge in a free hour, a new character on campus you hadnt discovered yet, and a brewing beer party all could be found under Brattons murals in 1951 (p. 172). Although they are difficult to see in this photograph, Keith Bratton (Class of 1950) painted murals of campus scenes, which hung on the walls of the C-Club for several years. Cropping marks are located on the right side of the photograph and 780 is handwritten near the bottom right corner.
