Description: ACTIVITBES-rConiinueaMAY DAY—The May Day program was held Friday night, April 24, in the new gym. The children presented a pageant based on Cinderella and the glass slipper. All the grades took an active part.Irene Miller presided as queen and Lee Addie was elected to be king. Barbara Spilbeler was Cinderella, and Foster Curry the Prince. The senior girls served as ladies-in-waiting and the junior andsenior boys were guests at the ball.JUNIOR AND SENIOR BANQUET—The seniors were entertained Saturday. April 25, by thejunior class. Everyone attending enjoyed themselves and thought that it was a very fine banquet.BACCALAUREATE—The Baccalaureate service for the seniors was held Sunday, April 26, at 2p. m. in the local Baptist church. The speaker of the evening was Reverend Merrill McFall, of theFirst Methodist church of Bloomington.SENIOR DEVOTIONS—The seniors had charge of devotions Monday morning, April 27. Thiswas a very sad occasion for the seniors as this was their last Monday morning as members of the student body.CLASS NIGHT—The seniors of the Ellettsville high school entertained their friends and familieson Tuesday night, April 28. The entertainment was enjoyed by all.COMMENCEMENT—The seniors bade farewell to good old E. H. S. Thursday night, April 30.The commencement speaker was L. A. Pittenger, president of Ball State Teachers College. He gavea very good speech and all were benefited by it. The high school band supplied the music. PrincipalClarence Stewart presented diplomas to the graduating seniors.CALENDARSeptember5 School opened. Everyone seems to be very enthusiastic. Just wait though.8 We have four new teachers—Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Hawkins, Mary Francis Curry and Mr. St. John.We hope theyll like us.9 Still a few running from room to room to find out where they belong.12 First week of school is over. So far, so good.15 Had devotional period this morning. We are to have one every Monday morning. They are veryconstructive.18 Senior class had a weiner roast. They witnessed the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) ratherspooky.25 Monroe county fall festival opened here. Everyone seems to be enjoying himself.26 Just went to school an hour today. Everyone regretted that they had to miss their classes. Thesoft-ball team won the tri-county soft-ball tourney.29 Everyone has settled down to normal life again since the festival is over.30 A whole month gone! Now, was it so bad?October1 Another month begins.9 Today was flag counting day. Report cards are out.10 Had a double fire drill today.13 Seniors dont like Mrs. Buchanans Monday morning tests in civics. Why?21 Freshmen initiated. Theyre full fledged Ellettsville Highers.22 Tomorrow vacation begins. Paul Deckard spoke to the student body today.27 Senior skating party. Lots of fun.28 Quite a few had sore spots this morning.29 Elected yell leaders today and had first Boys and Girls Council.30 Jack-o-lanterns are beginning to appear. Quite a lot of mystery.31 The school saw Joe E. Brown in Whens Your Birthday?November3 Juniors ordered rings today.4 Seniors started selling ads for annual. A few had tired feet.5 Played Patricksburg—a good game.7 E. H. S. played Stinesville. We won.10 Seniors had the party which they were awarded for selling the most basketball season tickets.14 Seniors had pictures taken for their graduation and Llamarada.15 Played basketball with Shoals. We lost. Better luck next time.19 Seniors picture proofs came today. Thanksgiving vacation begins tomorrow.24 Back again to school after a very nice vacation. Sophomores had a skating party.26 The Eagles took their prey—Oolitic, in a good game tonight.27 The Junior play was given. It was very good.28 Eagles played Eminence tonight. We won.Page Twenty-three
