Description: «MM»Shirley, Stoll are elected medieval royaltyA medieval theme was chosen forSouths 1983 Junior-Senior Prom, whichwas May 21 in the IU Memorial UnionAlumni Hall.Jennifer Holden, junior class president, said Alumni Hall was the bestplace for the Prom because the room isvery majestic looking.The decorations committee, headedby junior Jean VanOsdol, used manymedieval touches to transform AlumniHall. They added an eight-foot-tall castle,an old-time painted mural, 10 castle-typeflags, an ivy-covered wall, and a stonefountain.A live band, Legacy, providedmusic for the evening, which lasted forthree hours. Juniors Dan Shirley andCara Stoll were crowned Prom king andqueen.Events leading up to and after theProm were, according to Holden,almost as important as the Prom itself.Before the Prom, ballroom dancinglessons, taught by parents Allen andHelga Winold, were offered.
