TStrosnider crowned queen;first Morp successful eventThe month of February featured twomajor activities. One was the annualwinter sports queen contest; and theother was a new activity, the Morp.The Morp was sponsored by thejunior class as a fund raiser for the Prom.The Morp, which is Prom spelledbackwards, was a girl-ask-guy dance.Dance sponsors suggested that girls givetheir dates weeds instead of flowers andtake their dates to McDonalds instead ofa more elegant restaurant.The junior officers felt it would besomething different and fun since it wasrelated to the Prom, said PhyllisClapacs, junior class sponsor. The Morp,held in Souths cafeteria with disc jockeyJohn Pearson, had good attendance,showing profit for the Prom in May.The annual winter sports queen contest turned out somewhat different also,with the title going to a freshman for thefirst time. Nancy Strosnider was namedthe 1983 winter sports queen.
