Dumont to John Badollet, November 30, 1783

Description: This letter begins with an update on Dumont’s personal life: he has written his theses and just passed his last theology exam and feels badly for not writing to Badollet sooner. He and Badollet appear to be establishing a school in Ireland, and Dumont has received word that progress is being made on the building and on the paperwork. He advises Badollet that they need to hire teachers. The rest of the letter is personal in nature—Dumont’s family has been visiting, but he is bored because his friends and acquaintances are becoming less and less energetic; their mutual friend Sylvester’s father passed away, and now Sylvester is in Edinburgh and is also sick. Dumont ends the letter promising to send the books Badollet has requested.
