Description: |
In this letter Dumont writes about two men named Mr. de Talleyrand and Mr. de Beaumets who are going to Philadelphia to see a member of the American Senate. Both are distinguished political figures, and this letter serves as a sort of mini biography for the two of them. Toward the end of the letter Dumont changes the subject to the national assembly that was held at Geneva, during which a democratic Constitution was ratified by a large majority vote, and mentions that the war has come to an end. He also mentions that he thinks Sylvester (now a doctor) should go to America, either New York or Philadelphia, to help Genevan families there. |
