In 1926, the Indianapolis Power & Light Company was founded with the merger of the Indianapolis Light and Heat Company and the Merchant’s Heat and Light Company. In 1935, the company moved into its headquarters at 1 Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The company building, depicted in the photograph, was originally built in 1924 for the Continental Bank. As of 2017, the Indianapolis Power & Light Company offices remain in this building. |
