This photograph shows a view of the Citizens Gas & Coke Utility's plant on Prospect Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. Citizens Gas & Coke Utility was founded in 1887 as the Consumers Gas Trust Company. In the early 1900s, the company built the Prospect plant which, from 1908 to 2007, produced natural gas used to heat homes as well as coke, a type of fuel used in foundries. |
