Saint Joseph River dam

This colorized photograph shows the St. Joseph River dam near Johnson Street. It was taken prior to 1910 when construction on the new dam began. The original dam was constructed from trees which local farmers had cleared from their land. The structure was adequate until rising waters caused washouts making frequent repairs necessary. |
