This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) House fire at 21 W Washington St. spreading to nearby houses. 2) Woman trying to reach police. 3) Fire alarm reported at Shoreland Tower, 3710 N Meridian St. 4) Caller at 3710 N Meridian Apt 920 was called out of bed because of a fire alarm, dispatcher informs her that the building had been checked. Caller wants fire department to check the building, no one has informed her whether there was a fire and she saw no building staff when they went downstairs after the first alarm. Dispatcher will send someone to check the building. 5) Report on alarm at 3710 N Meridian. 6) Channel 8 called to ask if there was something happening on the north side. 7) Trash fire reported at Orange & Hartford. 8) Report on fire alarm at Shoreland Tower apartments, false alarm. Manager Bill Cooper, building 9 floors and all brick. 9) Heart attack reported at the Central Tavern, 1833 Central Ave. Ambulance sent to respond. 10) Garage fire reported at 2100 Shelby St., behind the alley. 11) Truck on fire at 3624 E New York St. 12) House fire reported at 13th and Bundy Place. 13) Report on 13th and Bundy, fire under control, building abandoned and slated for demolition. 14) Beat up man in need of assistance at 458 E Washington, Huron Hotel. Recording ends at 7:00 AM. |
