This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Telephone maintenance man called about an issue with an alarm box. 2) [several partial calls, recording skips] 3) Caller from the water company reports a grass fire east of Montcalm north of 16th St, along Fall Creek. 4) Caller reports fire in her furnace pipes, 1433 W Pruitt. 5) Caller wants to know if she can see her son sworn in as a fireman, dispatch gives her the correct number to call. 6) Finch asks dispatch to send truck 27 to radio station for a radio change. 7) Caller asks if he has the right number to call for an ambulance. 8) Caller asks who�s on duty in the alarm office, Cooper, Nichols, and Shannon. 9) Caller reports smoke coming around a gas pipe in a storage room, 3501 MacArthur Ln. 10) Telephone man informs dispatch that hes moved an alarm box to McCarty and Hancock, a block north of where it was. 11) Woman with broken leg at 154 S Elder. 12) Police dispatcher asks if fire stations are out between 38th and 42nd St, just inside the city, theres a farmhouse on fire on Franklin Rd between 38th and 42nd, doesnt know exact address. 13) Rescue squad requested at 841 S Meridian, woman passed out. 14) Telephone man reports maintenance work on phone lines. Recording ends at 3:16 PM. |
