This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt:1. Multiple calls coordinating effort to combat Hygate fire. 2. Another dispatcher says rail track will be blocked the rest of the night, until 5:00 AM at least. 3. District three requests 500 feet of extra hose on the west side of the sixes. 4. Woman calling about burning smell on 500 block of Michigan street, asking if it is safe to sleep with fire. 5. Central calls asking how long it will take to control and extinguish Hygrade fire. 6.
