This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s: 1. Car on fire reported at 17th Central Avenue, dispatcher points out that the call box is not located where the caller says he is. 2. Harry Peters at 3737 Carrolton Avenue reports trash fire near home. 3. Garage fire reported at 3360 Ruckle Street, another dispatcher is suspicious about this call and asks the primary dispatcher if the fire department should respond. Engine later calls back to say they cannot locate the address. 4. Phone test from electric company. 5. House on fire reported at 459 South Rochester Street. |
